King of the Mountain! Ecomobl’s electric skateboard has a top speed of 55 kilometers per hour
Ecomobl, the electric skateboard manufacturer from China, has a ridiculously powerful new skateboard.

This off-road electric skateboard called Telum BA 2-IN-1 4WD has 15,000 Watts. The performance is so strong that the company is very cautious about who it will sell it to.

This isn’t Ecomobl’s first foray into super-powerful electric skateboards.
Their previously released model, the Mountain Board Telum 2WD, can reach 48 kilometers per hour (30mph). It can also accelerate to 48 km/h in 3 seconds.

But compared to the new Pantera, it’s a piece of cake.

The Telum BA 2-IN-1 has 4 electric motors, each rated at 3.5kW, and the electric skateboard has a top speed of 55km/h.

In fact, this electric skateboard doesn’t even push its insane performance to the extreme. It comes with four 110A controllers, which combined with a 36V battery means it has a theoretical maximum peak power of 15.8kW (21hp)! But Ecomobl is said to have limited the power of these controllers to 55A each, which only produces 8 kilowatts of power.

The 6v and 30ah batteries also provide a pretty good range. With a capacity of 1.1 kWh, it can travel at least 45 kilometers (28 miles) on a single charge. Although that may not reach the Ecomobl’s top speed of 72 kilometers per hour (45 miles per hour). Not bad for an electric skateboard that weighs 26 kilograms (57 pounds).

However, the price of Mountain Board Telum BA 2-IN-1 4WD is not cheap. First, the company doesn’t even want to sell it to most regular customers. They recommend that any customer should first have extensive experience with other high-power electric skateboards.

Then you have to get a customized quote from the company. According to the Ecomobl website, they haven’t said how much the custom version will cost, but it should be “roughly equivalent to the price of a mid- to high-end mountain bike.” In other words, think carefully about four digits.

Ecomobl CEO G Li explained in the same interview:
“We thought, ‘If we put all cost considerations aside, how much energy can we put in a small box?’ This is more of a technology demonstration than anything else, but we think, we’ll Make it a product that’s very niche for a niche consumer. Obviously, this is private property and not a public road.”

For those looking for a more affordable (and more modestly powered) off-road electric skateboard, the Mountain Board Telum 2WD we reviewed might be more up your speed. Or for those who want to stay on the streets, the Linky Folding Electric Skateboard is also our favorite electric skateboard.

Electrek comments:
It’s crazy, I also ride an electric skateboard.
The fastest by far is my custom electric skateboard. I’ve never determined its actual top speed because I was sober about death, but I do remember speeding two inches above the road at 30 mph (51 kilometers per hour) and thinking to myself life choices have been evaluated.

But from a skateboarding perspective, at least it looks good and up to the challenge. Heck, its double-wishbone independent suspension was better than my first car in high school.

While those high speeds are certainly something to brag about, it’s actually its high power that makes this board fun and practical. Because while most people won’t use extreme top speed, extreme power applies to a more reasonable sport – climbing hills. This board can definitely climb steep trails. Imagine the thrill of snowboarding—but up a mountain instead of down.
